Their album from the late 80’s, Look Sharp! was extremely successful. The duo had some of the greatest top chart hits including ‘Listen to your Heart’ and ‘It Must Have Been Love’.

The duo reunited in 2009 and went on a worldwide successful tour.

She might be mostly recognized for her country singing, but Dolly Parton was so good at what she was doing that she could sing any type of genre.

Parton, who is 71 years old today, was around the clock, or more like 9 to 5, literally in the 80’s. 1980 was when her successful hit song was released.

In 1984 she was presented with a Hollywood star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame for her musical contribution.

Although Tina Turner’s musical career began in the late ‘50s, she became a worldwide phenomenon during the ‘80s for her hit singles such as ‘Proud Mary,’ ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ and ‘Private Dancer.’

Carly Simon’s career began to take off in the late ‘70s and she truly came into her own during the ‘80s, releasing smash hits like ‘Jesse’ and ‘Give Me All Night.’

She also established herself as a major figure within film and TV scores, which contributed to her Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe wins. Simon continues to release music today, and has recently featured on the new Gorillaz album, on the song ‘Ticker Tape.’

Sandra is the stage name of Sandra Ann Lauer, the German pop superstar who gained international attention during the ‘80s. This era was the true peak of her career, and she released smash hits like ‘Everlasting Love,’ ‘(I’ll Never Be) Maria Magdalena’ and ‘In The Heat of the Night.’

During this time, she even outsold Madonna in many countries (wowza). Since the ‘80s, Sandra has tried multiple times to make a comeback, but hasn’t been successful.

Laura Branigan was one hit singer back in the 80’s. Her most famous song, ‘Gloria’ from 1982, was actually part of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 36 whole weeks.

The single was so successful that it also topped the Australian and Canadian charts. She had a platinum-selling album named Self Control in 1984. Sadly, the singer passed away at the age of 52 after suffering from an undiagnosed disease.

Although Samantha Fox is today known to be a model, her singing career in the ‘80’s shows that this girl has got it all down.

Since her hit song ‘’Touch Me’’ in in 1986, over 30 million of her records have been sold. She has also appeared in many films and reality TV shows, and is still touring with her band today.
